Face practice. No reference.
Been just a little inspired lately after a long drought. Nothing specific but geez there are some awesome digital artists out there and every now and again I think to myself "Hey, I can do that". Been very slowly getting better and I still can't do eyes or mouths properly without reference.
EDIT: DOH! Forgot the eyebrows. |

Hey, I can directly upload pics! Awesome. This is a relatively quick sketch I just did. Getting better at getting a nice texture without having to work too hard. |

My house is haunted

Phrase of the day: The colour of purple
I told myself I would leave a couple of days before I typed another post so when my word production finally falls off when I realise I'm failing uni or something, there won't be a sudden change in update rate but I have leftover thoughts just slowly growing mouldy in my head.
Bogeymen haven't hidden under my bed for a few years at least now but the imagination conjures up some half lizard half golfclub beast when this sound starts tapping my ear follicles. It was as if some reptilian beast was coughing up ping pong balls which would then proceed to bounce around an echoey room. But alas the gruesome creature remained elusive to me. I would like to say I grabbed my chainsaw and ran through the night searching for this thing that disturbed my dreams but it was cold and I had no shoes on. As luck would have it I didn't get eaten whole, or even moderately nibbled but I know my dogs would bark it to death if it even remotely threatened the home.
Channel 7, in their unending search to be the trashiest dispenser of moving imagery in Australia has set up these talking booth things so you can 'have your say' in front of a TV camera. Undoubtedly this is supposed to be some kind of saviour of free speech in a world where all the current communication mediums are obviously not enough. Fact is, it's easier and cheaper to display opinions than it is to research facts. Plus it gets more ratings and you can't argue against an 'opinion'. They're onto a financial winner here. The irony here has not passed my attention but blogs really are the new flag bearer of free speech and I'm just doing my bit for society right?
Introspection may be a little unwarranted this early but Corvash has brought up a point that needs to be addressed whether he realised it or not. I've surprisingly not been very good at being realistic in my ambitions and perhaps the entertainment value of this site will be a waste of good ranting space. Anyway, can't think right now, my sister's watching Crow again. |

Battlefield of mediocrity

Phrase of the day: I'm ever so cubic
You like it? Might become a staple feature. I'll give it a few days or weeks for it to settle in. If anyone has any good ideas for regular features I'd love to know. For instance, something I could do in Photoshop.
It's most probably not a recent phenomenon but something has just picked up on my "No need for satire" radar. Imagine a bunch of lepers playing AFL (at least it'd make the game more interesting). It'd be embarrassing to watch but there are people out there with some strange compulsion, unexplainable by science or religion, to still enjoy it's rotten fruit. Nova's recently come up with a new TV ad campaign claiming no more than two ads in a row, as if claiming to only be a little bit shit will give them the edge.
Yet TripleM seem threatened by it all the same. I don't know what book of 'Retaliation for Dummies' they bought but advertising random selection as if it would - through statistical providence - make them play more less shitty music, is probably not the thought of someone with half a brain. I guess they want to put out the message that they're fine with their laziness. Maybe this is a good thing and they've come to terms with the big uncle sam in the sky and that's what they're telling us. We're pawns to market forces but at least we know it, which is more than I can say for those other losers.
And in the midst of this fog of war, if you look hard enough you'll see there are players on this field who don't have arms and legs falling off, being sacrificed for the greater money. Is this some holy forgotten bandwidth where only the true and just are able to listen to good, free music without fear of ads? No, and the path to enlightenment is but a short one for those willing to sacrifice just some of their stupidity. Let me give those of the uninitiated a quick start to the path of righteousness: www.triplej.net.au . Even those without the good fortune to live in Australia should be able to bathe in it's divine noise thanks to the amazing power of technology.
I think that's enough of my preaching for one post. I had other stuff to type about but this beast is a surprisingly tough and time consuming occupation. Anyway, I think I've given you enough to stew on for a little while. |

This post will go down in history

Yes, it's not exactly the most uberest site in the world, which is a stab in the heart for a graphic nut like me but that's the point don't you see. The less eye searingly good, the more attention you'll pay on this, the most important part of all. Now that's avant-garde!
This little space of inter-web will be soley dedicated to the meandering thoughts and ego boosting diatribes of a man (I can legitimately say that now) who's trying to see whether he has anything to say. I'll try to keep the blog as interesting as possible, for those with a chihuahua of imagination and a german shepherd of boredom. All those fans out there that have inherited, through some cosmic dance of chemistry, the ability to look through the fog of the future and know that this is a world changing event; hopefully I'll be able to spill torrents of interesting witticism about say, two to three times a week. But you would know that already.
And of course none of this could be possible without my good friend and harbinger of random, Ransom - Jammy - Arceihn. So let's all applaud him for his tireless hour or so of work and his dedication to give up some of his webspace to give me this wonderful opportunity to 'spill my beans' as it were on all the topical topics you know and love.
Cael out. |
